PENS IN THE NEWS

-- The Jersey Penguins are proud to announce that our beloved coach Sergei Starikov has accepted a position of the assistant coach of "Sibir" Novosibirsk, Russia (www.hcsibir.ru) of the Russian Super League. The head coach of the team is Andrei Khomutov, a former teammate of Sergei's on the former USSR National team and a three-time Olympic gold medalist. The Sibir Novosibirsk club will be playing in new Continental Hockey League, which will be expanding to all of Europe and which would compete with the NHL. While coaching Sibir Novosibirsk, Sergei will be on leave of absence from the Penguins. Sergei will of course be missed tremendously, but we are also extraordinarily proud that Sergei has secured this prestigious position. This is a great opportunity for Sergei, and we all wish him every success and a safe return.
